Playtech Upgrades Mobile Platform of Winner Bingo
From Autumn 2014 onwards, players of Winner Bingo will now have access to an upgraded mobile bingo platform. As a whole, the bingo games and the interface have been upgraded and optimised. However, Playtech has also added a new range of side games. These will provide players with a welcome distraction when they are waiting long periods of time for jackpot bingo games to start.
Across the entire online gambling experience, mobile is a high priority because of the extent to which smartphones and tablets are now entwined with our daily lives. Compared to sports betting, casino sites, and online poker, bingo is just as important for industry software developers like Playtech. Having optional extras and welcome distractions like side games are now key to giving players more choice and a better overall experience.
Virtue Fusion Bingo
Playtech is one of the three largest providers of online gambling software in the world, and in reaching its current level the company has made a number of key acquisitions along the way in order to move into new markets. One such acquisition was that of Virtue Fusion, the software provider that maintains the Winner Bingo platform and that of many other bingo websites.
From a bingo standpoint, Virtue Fusion made the mobile upgrade possible for Winner Bingo. Alongside traditional forms of bingo, players can also access creative versions such as Deal or No Deal Bingo and Lucky Numbers Bingo. However, what truly makes Virtue Fusion sites work is that they can receive casino and slot games from Playtech as well. As a result, players at those sites can choose from a vast selection of games.
Playtech and Virtue Fusion Relationship
As far back as January 2008, Playtech was considering a purchase of Virtue Fusion. Driving the decision was the realisation that online bingo represented a key growth market within the wider online gambling industry. Playtech has been so successful since its 1999 founding because the company was able to identify key growth markets and then pursue the opportunities.
In spite of the early consideration of Virtue Fusion, it would actually take until early 2010 when Playtech would finally pull the trigger on the acquisition. CEO Mor Weizer had been monitoring progress of Virtue Fusion and online bingo through 2007, 2008, and 2009 before at last completing a deal.
When commenting on the purchase, Weizer stated that it would help Playtech to tap into new European markets. The purchase would also help to increase the presence of Virtue Fusion, who managed to generate earnings of £3.8 million from turnover of £12.3 million in 2009, the bingo software developer’s final year of independence.
Winner Bingo Now Licensed in UK
As of 1 November 2014, UK gambling legislation has changed. Under the current laws, only bingo sites registered with the UK Gambling Commission can serve UK residents. To maintain its position within the online and mobile bingo markets, Winner Bingo wisely obtained a license with the Gambling Commission to continue its operations in the UK. Such an investment in a mobile upgrade would not have made sense without that license.
